About The Project
The ESM Solar Project would be located in Township 16 South, Range 64 East, Sections 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 21, and 22 Mount Diablo Meridian, Nevada. For the purposes of this EIS, the "Analysis Area" for the solar project will include up to 4,770 acres of land on the Reservation within which approximately 2,300 acres would be developed for the solar project.
The Project would have up to a 50-year land lease from the Tribe. It would utilize photovoltaic (PV) solar technology and would generate up to 300 MW of energy. Construction of the Project is expected to take approximately 12 to 18 months. The water supply required for the project would be supplied by water leased from the Moapa Band and provided from existing wells adjacent to the Project site.
An overhead 230 kilovolt (kV) transmission line would connect the solar project to the regional electrical transmission grid at NV Energy's Reid-Gardner Substation. This gen-tie line would be about 10 miles long and located on the Reservation but within a federally designated utility corridor managed by the BLM. Access to the site would be from I-15 via existing local roads and existing roads on the Reservation.
